How to export, publish and test your new website

Export web design to HTML
To export your design to HTML, please go to command bar > Publish > Export Page As HTML

Exported files
Exporting a page will generate the HTML file and a folder containing media files (such as photos) used on the page. Exported files may also contain additional folders for web frameworks and scripts. You will also see header and footer files being generated, these are used for site-wide shared headers and footers.

Please upload all exported source files to your web server. If you make a change to the design, please note these files need to be updated to reflect the latest change.

Publish using FTP client
You can upload exported files to your website using a FTP client.

If you do not already have a FTP client, there are a number of great FTP client apps available, both free and paid.

Many of our users like
FileZilla and CyberDuck.

The upload process is usually quite straight forward, but each web service provider may have slightly different setups. Please get in touch with your web host for more detailed instructions on how to upload files to your website.

Publish using File Manager
File Manager is a web based tool that allows you to publish files to your website.

You should be able to locate the link to your website's File Manager from the web host control panel. Detailed instructions vary depending on your web host provider, please get in touch with your web host for more details.

  • Launch your web browser and navigate to your web host's File Manager.
  • Open your file folder structure and navigate to the web publishing folder, this is the folder containing all the existing HTML files for your website. (this is usually a folder named the same as your website domain or a folder named "public_html")
  • Upload the exported files for your web page. If you are making an update to an existing page, please choose replace to override existing file.
